Hello! Lots of new faces, so it’s time I show yo Hello! Lots of new faces, so it’s time I show you how hot I am. 😩

Not really kidding, but I do think a little get to know me is in order. (Humble as can be!)

Let’s do this in bullet points which is how my mind works

-Legal name: Tamara Samara (yes that’s my name)

-29 years old but I’ll always say 30. And when I’m 30 I’ll say 32. I don’t why, but that’s what happens.

-Working full time as an Estheticians since 2012.

-Opened Tamara Samara brow studio 6 years ago!

- Began teaching brows about 3 years ago!

-The brow life truly chose me. I didn’t plan on it, but I fell into and loveeeeee this for me.

-Brazilian born American raised. 🇧🇷🇺🇸

-Speak 2 languages fluently and I like to think I speak Spanish. I butcher Spanish but you’ll understand. (English and Portuguese)

-Married for 7 years in January and I didn’t take my husbands name, but I low key regret it because it’s a cool ass name 😂 (don’t tell him though)

-My husband and I own and operate the studio full time. (@curcinowho)

-I’m in my mental health baddie era. Do lots of therapy and take my medication everyday to get the most out of this wonderful life. Proud OCD survivor and thriver. @treatmyocd saved my life and if you are struggling, hit them up! (take care of your mental health babes).

-Outside of brows, my passion is to help remove the stigma of mental health disorders. It’s okay babe, take your pill and live your life.

-3 nephews and 1 niece and 1 goddaughter who are my world. They are the best kids on the planet and I’ll argue with you about it.

-I love hiking but am deathly scared of heights, so I will make stories while crying (and farting IYKYK) when I’m lost on a mountain.

-I love traveling and am on a quest to visit at least one country on every continent. 3 down 4 to go!

-Also trying to do all 50 USA states. 22 under my belt! Lots more to go.

-oh! And would be cool to go to all countries in South America! Let’s see if we can do it.

- And I have the most adorable doggy in the world who hikes with me. Zeus is his name and again, best doggy on the planet and you can’t convince me otherwise.

I think that’s it! Hove a great Thursday!
The truth is marketing has and will always be a hu The truth is marketing has and will always be a huge part of the industry. All it is, is methods to get as many eyes on your work as possible!

Before social media this was very (VERY!!) expensive.

Think taking out ads on local papers, or driving around leaving business cards everywhere, or even hiring an agency to run paid per click ads online.

Social media gives the little guys a fair play advantage.

Before only the salon owner would have the means to have expensive marketing and usually that came from part of the business loan taken out to open the salon.

I’m sure you recall when you would say “I go xyz salon because they are the best” not “I see Tamara Samara because she is the best”.

See the difference? Social let’s your build your own identity. Grow a clientele. Create a banging portfolio. And heck even be your own boss.

All things that were extremely hard to do prior to these awesome platforms.

Just remember: You don’t have to know it all right away. And just like the beauty service you provide, it takes time to build the skill.

BUT your attitude towards it is readable to your audience! Show up eager for a chance to grow in your career.

And that’s why I say “Change your perspective, Change your career!”

What’s your beginner social media tips? Drop them below and let’s help each other out!

@starpilwaxusa oils are the bomb!!! I like to us @starpilwaxusa oils are the bomb!!!

I like to use the vegan or starsoft on face waxes and the coral on body waxes.

The vegan and starsoft line is a great gentle oil for those who are sensitive to oils. No fragrantes or harsh ingredients.

While the Coral illuminating dry oil contains Titanium Dioxide to aid in irritation and inflammation. It also contains coral calcium to brighten and even skin tone.

Not to mention it sparkles! It’s glittery body oil with benefits.

Starpil oils have been in my backyard for 6 years now! And with every new drop, I just add more and more to my stash.

Which one is your favorite?

Check my previous reel for part 1! In our indust Check my previous reel for part 1!

In our industry, time is money. However that does not mean you cut corners.

What you have to do is make choices on where your time is needed the most. Learn better time management.

It’s as small as knowing where the crispy line is needed and where it’s not.

My golden rule is: if I can get the same exact result without doing the extra step, than it’s in my and my clients best interest to skip.

I rather use that time on where it matters most such as a really solid and clean tint application. Or a slower more detailed wax application.

Lastly, your client are people with demanding jobs/lives as well. They come in on lunch breaks, or get babysitters, or really don’t want to spend an hour getting a service they have to turn around and get next month.

Find the balance between enough time to do the best job, and finding efficiency to fit our beauty services into their busy schedules!

It’s all a delicate balance.

*** this does not mean rush! Rushing is not a time saver. Controlling your speed and doing it right the first time is far more time efficient than having to redo something because it was done poorly.

Drop some of your time savers in the comments!

What is the difference between my mapping techniqu What is the difference between my mapping technique and others? It’s the freedom you have to personalize the shape to each client.

It’s not about “the lines go here” but “why do the lines go here”

With the Geometric method, we break the brow down into simple shapes to help you visualize any brow before you even mark.

After, you are able to use any tool you prefer to make your markings and get the best shape for you client!

Or even skip the map and free hand tints!

The goal is to give each client a shape uniquely for them! No more of all your brow mapping looking exactly the same.

Let me help you bring out the Brow Artist in you!

How can I attract more clients as an artist? Here How can I attract more clients as an artist?

Here's the key: Focus on your craft! I can't stress this enough. Whether you're a new artist or struggling to gain clients, your primary goal should always be improving your craft.

IMPORTANT: This doesn't mean waiting for perfection or doubting your abilities, aiming for some elusive "perfect" standard. Perfectionism has no place in our industry.

When I say "focus on your craft," I mean giving yourself permission to take a step back from trying to master a multitude of skills all at once.

The truth is, as artists and potential business owners, there are many skills that require time and attention to develop: business skills, marketing, filming, editing, strategy, and more. But tackling all of these becomes much easier if you've first invested in honing your craft.

Become the best artist YOU can be, and success will naturally follow!

Watch my pinned post “my top secret to being booked months in advance” for more practical tips on how I focused on my craft in the beginning of my career.

Coral Hard wax micro beads by Starpil! I had to Coral Hard wax micro beads by Starpil!

I had to upgrade to the 30lb of this goodness because I always felt myself going back to it!

Alongside the skin benefits, the part that really makes me happy is the fact that it can be applied so thinly to get all the super fine hairs.

But at the same time, super quick drying when you need that support of a thicker application.

Was buying so many little 5 pound bags, I decided it was worth investing in the large 30lb!

Ok, you got your brows shaped and now it’s time Ok, you got your brows shaped and now it’s time to enhance them..

This is where everybody looks at me with wide eyes. No need to panic, let’s break it all down together!

First is your foundation: Shaped brows that are brushed into place (up & out)

Now we take a flat brush and VERY LITTLE highlighter or concealer and create a line under the brow.

Trust me it does NOT have to be this precise, I don’t go with this precision filling in my own brows.

Once you have the guide, now it’s like a coloring book.

Take a light color than your hair (scroll down for an explanation video) and using a LIGHT hand cover the entire brow in one thin layer of product.

Go back into the spots where it’s more sparse and build the color to blend that area better.

Don’t forget to BLEND BLEND BLEND!

Gel to lock everything in.

And you did it!

It’s really that simple. I would say the biggest mistake most people make us using too much product. Remember with brows, LESS IS MORE!

Leave your questions below!

Accutane and waxing do not mix! So let’s talk Accutane and waxing do not mix!

So let’s talk about how to handle a situation like this:

First, Have an intake form. If filled out correctly, you will know everything your client is on.

Second, I like to get in the habit of asking everyone “are we ok with waxing?” Before laying a wax strip.

This gives them another chance let me know of anything they are using even if they forget to mention it on the form.

And Lastly, if you did lay the strip and then find out. Don’t panic!

Use lots of oil and a very gentle hand to melt the soft wax off.

If it’s hard wax, lift a tiny (I mean tiny) of the wax and start to deposit oil in between. Lift a little, oil, lift a little, oil.

The goal here is to loosen the “stickiness” as much as possible to minimize any skin lifting.

While doing so, explain to the client some sensitivity can occur from this and educate them on the importance of not waxing while on Accutane!

Once wax it removed, continue the service with Accutane safe technique like threading or tweezing.

And that’s how you survive the Accutane battle!

Brow shaping! Like her Brow Style? This is wha Brow shaping!

Like her Brow Style?

This is what you ask for.

Precise trimming
Definition under the brow
Keep the brow as full as possible

I would classify this as a defined eyebrow. Definition doesn’t mean unnatural, it just means no fluff of different heights at the top.

If an artist bad mouths another technique in hope If an artist bad mouths another technique in hopes to gain more clients… it’s suspicious!

Threading vs Waxing debate is 100% subjective.

So let’s get into the myths:

1) Threading lasts longer: MYTH ‼️
-Both waxing and threading remove hairs from the bulb. The hair will take the same amount of time to grow back in.

2) Threading thins brows more: MYTH ‼️
- it’s not the thread, it’s the tech. Wax and thread only remove what the tech wants to remove. A great artist will keep your brows healthy with both techniques.

3) Waxing causes the skin to droop: MYTH‼️
- Waxing “tugs” at the skin for a few seconds every few weeks. That isn’t enough to make your skin drool. Age is! It’s a know for a fact that your eyes begin to droop as you get older. Waxing or not.

- With this train of thought, threading requires the skin to be held very taught to prevent skin cuts. That tug from stretching would also cause drooping.

But it doesn’t! In fact there is isn’t evidence to support this claim ever recorded.

4) Threading gives sharper lines: MYTH‼️
- Same things as above, your tech determines the shape. You can get sharp lines from both service.

So how do you know which one to pick?

1) Preference

2) Your skin: does one irritate your skin more than the other? I’ve seen cases of both techniques not agreeing with someone’s skin

3) THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT: Are you using or taking anything that contraindicate waxing.

- Skin on topical creams with exfoliants such as retinol and acne medication can not be waxed while on these products.

- Threading is a great way to get a beautiful shape without having to pause your skin regimen. But remember to go to someone skilled as threading can still irritate skin on aggressive actives.

If you don’t have a reason to skip waxing, I would try both and see which one you like better!

When in Doubt, talk it out! Ask your provider for their opinion on which one suits you best.

There really isn’t one that is the BEST! It’s all about you individually and works for your skin!

Send this post to a friend in doubt!
